Increase Conveyor Uptime with the Lowdown on Connecting Pins

Want to make a huge improvement in conveyor uptime with only a small investment in time and money? Then take a look at Flexco's connecting pins! Despite the fact that connecting pins are the first area of a splice to show wear, they often receive very little attention during the selection process and during preventative maintenance inspections. Proper pin selection and knowledge of when to replace pins can help you significantly increase splice life...and as a result increase conveyor uptime.

Selecting the Proper Pin
One type of connecting pin will not work for all applications. Connecting pins must be chosen for the specific conveyor system. For example: Troughed conveyors, or those using crowned pulleys, need to use a flexible connecting pin designed to withstand constant flexing. Although flat applications can use a flexible pin, a solid core pin is often recommended, as it is easier to insert into the finished splice. Flexco offers pins in a wide variety of materials. Contact Customer Service to discuss your application and get a recommendation for a pin that optimizes your system's performance.

Extend Pin Life by 10 Times with Duralink and DuraStainless Pins!
Whether you have a high-abuse application, or simply wish to maximize pin life and ultimately conveyor uptime, select Duralink or DuraStainless connecting pins for Clipper® splices. In-house dynamic testing has shown that the specially-formulated 'Dura' coating provides 10 times greater abrasion resistance than our standard nylon coated pins. Duralink, with a braided stainless cable core, is ideal for crowned pulley or troughing applications. Select DuraStainless, with the solid stainless steel core, for all other applications.

Knowing When to Replace Pins
Proper pin selection is only the first step to maximizing conveyor uptime. Inspection and replacement of pins is also key to avoiding unnecessary downtime.
